What is a Health and Wellness Coach.

Hi, my name is Mercedes and I am a Holistic Health and Wellness Coach and Holistic Nutrition Specialist. I am currently gaining my certification for both through the NBHWC (National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching) so very soon my title will be changing, but in a very good way.

I am here to help you be able to follow your passion to lead a healthier life, but beyond that I can also help you find your “Why?” and follow it. If your why involves being able to stay healthy to be able to spend more time with your family or even changing your career outlook to be able to make positive health changes, I’m your cheerleader.

You are at the center of our meetings, this is part of your journey, I’m just here to help along the way.

I’ve been a Certified Nursing Assistant for 10 years, in 2016 I hit a wall with burn out. Caring for others was starting to negatively impact my health, I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis at the age of 25. My burn out kept going, for a while I had relief but took it for granted and hit that wall hard again. I looked for ways to start changing my health story and it worked for a while, I started yoga and changed my diet. I felt better, we even decided it was time to try for another baby. I was on top of the world, then 2020 happened. We all know what happened that year, the burn out came back with a vengeance only this time it was pandemic induced. I was discouraged and then I saw the light. A coworker had become a Health Coach and it peaked my interest, I watched her change before my very eyes. I had to know more about this.

After speaking with her and feeling aligned with what she had told me, I started my journey to be a Health Coach in December of 2021. On this journey I have learned so much about myself and my health, I’ve learned how everything is connected, and I’ve learned how important it is to really invest in yourself. I strive to be the type of coach I needed.

In our first session we will go over what your personal wellness vision is, we will utilize a tool called the wheel of wellness. Which is a tool that looks at your physcial wellbeing, contributional wellbeing, spiritual wellbeing, physical environment, emotional wellbeing, rational wellbeing and holistic nutrition. We will also use short term and long term goals in our sessions.

My programs are 6 weeks long and during those sessions we will have a goal clearly stated and make strides to reach that goal. Don’t worry, I’m a mom and I understand your time is precious. I like meeting for 45 minutes, that is enough time to get to the heart of the issues at hand without being away for too long during our busy day.
