September Bullet Journal and Self Care.
Hey friends, welcome back to this fun blog.
In today's post we're talking about our September Bullet Journal set up and self care. I know. I know. I hear you "what does a video game theme have to deal with self care?"
Did you know video games can be considered self care, and according to some studies they also help with hand eye coordination. If your self care is being able to take an hour of your day and play a RPG (role playing game) then that is self care, self care is something that gives you joy and calming. The definition of self care as defined by Dictionary.com "the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health."
So if that fits your definition that's perfect, other forms of self care can include:
Cooking (mentioned in video)
Doing your makeup (also mentioned in video)
Taking a walk in nature.
Taking a leisurely jog (not marathon training.)
Having a nice quite cup of coffee.
Reading a book.
Doing a skin care routine.
Taking a rejuvenating shower (tip from me to you, imagine the water as a magical substance to fully let the unwanted and stale energies to wash away. I like imagining gold shimmering glittering light just washing over me removing all the old and stagnant energies and anxieties.)
Or even doing your bullet journal (like me)
The list of self care and what is considered self care is big, as you read this list you may not see a single one that makes your list. While we're at it, go ahead an make a list. I'd love you to make a list of the things you consider self care and what makes you happy, positive kudos if it's something that's physical or mental health related. But seriously, my friend and me were having a text conversation about a little slice of self care and mine being that I gave into my cravings and bought some deep fried mushrooms that my cafeteria was offering and she bought a lovely thaw and eat cheese cake. I know that some may say, "don't make food your self care" may I just go ahead and remind us that: A) intuitive eating is better than restricting your cravings and B) if chamomile tea can be self care than so can that NO WHEY bar. The point of intuitive eating is to listen to your body and eat what you need too but let me be clear, it's not an excuse to indulge in unhealthy foods and habits.
Here is a very simple self care exercise I do in the middle of my busy work day and it has to deal with breathing. I like to take 3 Empowering Breaths, along with these breaths I will tell myself positive affirmations, first in my head but out loud after the third breath.
“I am confident”
“I am capable”
“I am able”
“I am a powerhouse”
Things like that, or whatever I need in the moment. You can use any moment to be a self care moment and breath like this. It’s the simplest of the methods I like to use. I’ll go into another technique in another blog post at another time, in the meantime let me know if there is one in particular you would like to know about.
Remember to drink water because it’s self care too.
Many Blessings.
