Ninja Foodi Ultimate System
Hey friends, I recently got the Ninja Foodi Ultimate System and I've used it a few times so I'm excited to give a review of it. First, I must say that this was a gift from our channels secret Santa 🎅 🧑‍🎄 back in November and since we did a big house project I wasn't able to try it right away. I did use the bullet function before the rest of the machine and was very impressed.
My first thought was it is so shiny. The chrome color is a nice contrast for any kitchen, even my yellow one. Second was I couldn't believe how sharp the blades are, this is my first new food processor our current/last food processor was my husband's grandmas and its from the 70s/80s and it only holds a half of a cup so we mostly use it for crushing pecans for snowballs in the winter. So my second thought was that the system of course is big , the main mixing pitcher is 72 oz , that’s 9 cups in the main system. My system has two bullet cups, the original bullet extraction cup is 24oz and the smoothie bullet which has prongs that go up the side walls to help mix and incorporate the harder to incorporate smoothie ingredients is 18oz. The system I have also has a few different blades like a reversable shredding and a grating disk, along with a dough blade. So it has a few different functions.
The dial on the machine can do different functions, 7 to be exact that are: smoothies, extracts, bowls, spreads, chopping, food processing and dough. I found that the “chopping” function worked for my salsa, while the “spread” worked out for guacamole in a pinch. I made a video about my experience with the ninja and my salsa below.
So, in the beginning like I mentioned we had a home project going on so I didn’t do a full unboxing back in December, but I did open it and do some small projects like making some of the Acai Bowls that we got in a food box and some cookies that I really wanted to make that I already failed at with my blender. In all the first thing we noticed while we were doing things was that the unit is loud, for me I couldn’t be one of those people who get the blender out and make an early morning smoothie because it would wake everyone up. But I could see myself making a smoothie the night before and it being a good consistency the next day, I’ll have to keep you updated if I try that. I must say that making homemade nut milks are a breeze in this unit, literally seconds to blend and its perfect (remember to strain your milk though.)
I wanted to give you guys a good list of things I tried in the first few months of use up to me making the official unboxing video, so without further adieu I did score my points out of 10 overall points a piece so that is my scoring system. In the future I will go in and do some extra points as I use the unit more.
-So the first thing I made in the bullet was a pre frozen acai bowl, all I did was pop the frozen cubes and some almond milk in the bullet to blend. This came out great 10/10 no issues blending and my kids gobbled these up with some granola and extra fruit on top.
-The second thing I tried to do was make a batch of chickpea cookies in the original bullet, that was my mistake as I should have used the food processor bowl. It was as hard as using the blender and I didn't even film any of this but instead just kept the original footage from using the blender for a cookie video. I think before I go live with that cookie video I'll end up doing it in the processor to show the ease of use. Overall for this failed attempt 6/10 because user error.
-The next thing I attempted was to use the original bullet to make spinach powder. I usually use the coffee grinder but I was interested in seeing if I could use the ninja for my dehydrated veggie processing as I make a lot of them into powder to add to dishes and soups. This was my favorite thing to try to this point and omg was it so much faster than the grinder. I could see right through the cup which made gauging how much to pulverize easy. Once it was powder it was powder and I stopped. Let the dust settle before opening or your going to inhale veggie powder. 10/10
-I then experimented again with the bullet cup for some kale chips, I did my cashew mix in the bullet. I had issues. First I added things in the order I would with my big blender as in dry first and top it off with the cashews. I really should have put the cashews in first and put the dry on top so when flipped it was on the bottom. It worked I just had to mix it a few times to make my dry mix fall into the nicely blended cashews. 8/10
-I tried the second batch I had in the full food processor attachment and big difference, this only needed about a minute of blending and the system will start with the pulsing then flip to the blend itself. 10/10
-and the last thing I've done so far in this ninja is making salsa. I used the food processor attachment to make 3 versions of my salsa. Again the system will pulse on it's own, I did this on pulse only to keep it nice and chunky. My trick was that I made my hottest one first since I wanted that to be more chunky and went from spicy to mild since my most mild one was going to be smooth. I was able to do my salsa in batches and get the perfect restaurant texture salsa. This didn't stay around more than 4 days. 100/10
- Next thing I’m going to try, I want to use my shredder attachment coming up to try and shred a block of cheese. We all know you pay a convince fee basically for buying the pre shredded bag, and that bag works wonders. But for those looking to get away from the bag this can be a quick option, put away the box grater.
-to try, chicken breast in the food processor. I've seen this work wonders, just add the chicken breast to the processor and pulse till your desired shred. You can also go beyond the shred and make it more chopped for chicken salads and such.
My owweee story. So I'm very vigilante of not letting my kids touch this system because like I said every blade is sharp. What I didn't take into account was that the food processor attachment doesn't secure the blades in when not in use. Once you take that system off the base you need to pull out the blades before you tip the system to empty it, I didn't realize that and nearly chopped my finger off when making salsa.
All In all, I'm super excited for this system and I'm super thankful for my secret Santa for gifting this system to us. I can't wait to keep using this and you are definitely going to be seeing this in coming videos. This system is not cheap and you can tell in the products and end results, this has some power to it and if I didn’t get this as a gift I would have defiantly bought it in the next few years (or however long it would have been to save up for this) the late night commercials for the ninja didn’t lie to me and i’m excited to get many years of use out of this.
