Garden Update #7
Hey friends, this is the post for my garden update #7 that happened during November 2022 till March 2023.
In the garden we got a lot of rain so it was a lot of cleaning and weeding, until the squash bug infestation took out our pumpkins they were doing so good. We would have totally had some pumpkins, if you guys watched some prior updates you will know that my youngest daughter picked out the pumpkin seeds to plant so I really wanted to make them work. We were fighting a good fight with the bugs and we applied some Dr. Bronner’s soap in a spray bottle with 1:4 of the baby pure hemp bar along with 4 drops of peppermint essential oil. We just googled this recipe if your looking for more info on it, but we sprayed some on the affected areas and it was working well until I hid a long run at work, then it was all over and we had to pull the rest.
We did get some harvesting in this video, my youngest was able to “dig for treasure” and dig out the sweet potatoes. We only harvested 3 and they were split so we didn’t eat them because when I googled if they were safe to eat I got mixed answers so we just decided to re-compost them. Oh well, there’s always next time.
